8:00-9:20 - Project Block 9:30-9:55 | Indie Lens Prep | Vocabulary Check In: In a short gathering have each person choose at least one of the words to use in a sentence. The more words the better, BUT it has to make sense...showing some understanding of the words, in order to show the group they know something about them. (If they don’t know the words, a question can be a sentence.) {Suggest writing down these on a notecard or sticky before sharing.} WORDBANK: Data, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Unconscious Bias, Algorithms, Faceprint, Biometric Data, Civil Rights, Social Credit Score, Due Process ***Reflect: Which words were used most? Which were used less? Why do we think that is? What else did you notice about the words we used? We will watch the film Coded Bias today. It explores racial and gender bias as it relates to advanced technology, specifically facial recognition software. There is an incredible panel after (see credentials below)….so start thinking of questions. New Media As a group, watch the poem below, based on THIS speech by Sojourner Truth. As you watch, make observations about how technology and civil rights might intersect. WATCH THIS POEM What questions do you have? Write them down, see if they are still questions after the film.
